Braxton's pet hamster, Fuzzy, is no longer with us. Braxton got Fuzzy for his 5th birthday, so she stayed with us for almost 6 months.
This morning, she passed away.
He loved her, but, really we didn't play with her all that much.
Ayla's pet hamster, Cinnamon, died a few weeks before -- little did I know that her hamster had died from "wet tail". It's a disease that effects their digestional tract and makes them lathargic and dehydrated.
Well, after her hamster died, I wanted to borrow her cage for Fuzzy. Cinnamon's cage was bigger ... little did I know, I was accidentally killing Fuzzy. Apparently, it is VERY contagious and you are supposed to dispose of the cage. :( I feel so bad - but in a way, I really don't want rodents around my new baby either .....
Brax got back from his dad's this weekend and we broke it to him. He was a bit sad ... but David did a good job explaining to him that Fuzzy was now with Heavenly Father now. We then asked him if he wanted to help us dig a hole for Fuzzy's grave. His answer "shore" (sure.)

We then asked Brax if he wanted a headstone for Fuzzy. We found this perfect rock and placed it on the grave.
Braxton stood up, a bit perplexed. He began tapping his index finger to his chin and said, "Um, guys? Something is missing ..................................................... RIP"
He was right! How could we forget to let everyone know that we wanted Fuzzy to Rest In Peace? What silly parents we are! Glad Brax was there to help remind us!
Oh yes. After the burial Braxton asked, "so, if we just put Fuzzy in the ground, how is she with Heavenly Father?"
We explained that it's her spirit that is with Heavenly Father. "Oh." He says ... "So, where is Heaven?" David said, "In the sky with the clouds."
Braxton looked up and said, "Oh, there aren't any clouds!"
I looked around and saw some far off and said, "Right there!"
Brax then said, "OH, right! And I think I see Fuzzy!"

That night I was talking to my sister on the phone. We had a lengthy conversation and I then told her about the hamster's fate. She asked how Brax handled it and I said he did surprisingly well.
I told her we explained to him that Fuzzy was with Heavenly Father and he seemed pretty accepting of that.
With my sis on the line, I yelled out to Brax for him to answer, "Brax, so tell Auntie Deb where Fuzzy is ..."
He came running over and said, "She's in THE DIRT!" :) Um ... right!
THE END
