St. George, Day 2, Zion's Nat'l Park

Friday after our continental breakfast we got up and headed to Zion's.  There were some awesome people at the hotel that gave us their receipt for Zion's and it was good for two more days -- so we didn't have to pay!  BONUS!

It was so much fun - I've never been to any of the Nat'l Parks in Utah.  I know, I'm lame.  Here are quite a few pics of the happenings going on that day.

A couple of really pretty pics of the view:

David and I got out and planned on hiking just a short way.  This was where we stopped ... then we saw another hill we wanted to try and hike up to ... didn't look too terribly far.

To the left of me, there are trees/shrubs ... notice the blacktop road to the left of that:

Now see if you can notice the blacktop road!  It's almost halfway down the left side of the pic.  If you can't tell, I'm proud of myself for hiking that far while pregnant.  It wasn't really rough terrain as you can see.  But, it was smooth and steep in places ... thus, I took of my shoes because I had a better grip with my bare feet than my crappy crocs! (Forgot hiking shoes.  DUMB!)

Once we got to the top of the hill (where I did the Rambo stance) David decided to go back down a different way.  We then ran into these little holes in the mountain that had water pools in it.  It was cooler to see in person.

These pools had baby t adpoles...

AND froggies, too!

Here is Mr. Burleigh trying to sneak up on them.  They all hopped away but one.

He hopped, too.  But right onto David.  It was awesome.  He just sat there for a minute and then decided to jump in too.

We continued a bit further when we noticed, we were almost down.  But one problem ... a pretty sheer cliff.    It was just SUPER steep and I had lost my balance a few times with my belly earlier.  I didn't feel comfortable trying to make it down being THAT pregnant.  So, I just followed my man and he got me down safely :)  I was never worried.  THEN, we ran into the KEWLEST slot canyon.  I'm so glad we came down the other way or we would have TOTALLY missed it!

Donde esta David? ... (he's soakin' up the sun)

And just like that (3 hours later) we were done with our short hike :)  Sure glad we didn't start out thinking we would do a long hike.  We might just barely be getting back ... to the car!

On our way back to St. George, we stopped in at a small store in Virgin, Utah, to get some homemade ice cream.  They had these cute little buildings outside.  I couldn't help but think about the boys and how cool they would think it was.

I kept seeing these cute cactus flowers.  I don't know why I love these, but I do.  Whenever I see these flowers I think to myself, "No matter how rough your surroundings are -- you can choose to stand out."  (ya know, something to that effect)
