Christmas 2008

Here are just a few pictures of our Christmas.  We had a really good time.  We got up, went downstairs and looked at all of the stuff Santa left. Opened up our stockings, read the letter from Santa ... and headed out the door before opening our gifts.

Yes, you heard me right.

You  might remember that for FHE a few weeks ago we assembled some hygiene kits for the homeless.  Well, David had called up the shelter and whoever he talked to recommended coming on Christmas morning to hand them out.  After discussing it, David and I both felt that that was perfect.

We knew the kids would be excited for Christmas, but we kind of wanted them to see where our priorities were.

We got to the shelter and the boys did great pulling out a kit from the bag and handing them out.  We even got some hot cocoa from the workers there ... but it was um, too hot.

On the way home, we talked to the kids (boys mostly) about how today was Christ's birthday and that serving other's is like serving Him.  So, in a round-a-bout way, we had given Christ a present on his birthday.  It was really sweet to hear them talk about it.

Ya know, kids get SO many toys and books and candy for Christmas and I highly doubt they could remember certain Christmas'.  I'm hoping that they will be able to remember going and helping those who didn't have as much as we did.   I HOPE!

Back to our Christmas Story:

So here are the kids opening up their "unknown" Christmas Eve present.  Ohhhhhh.  Awwwww.  Whatever could it be?  Is it ... NO!  Pajamas!  You have got to be freakin' KIDDIN'!  That's exactly what I wanted and needed again, this year.  YAY!

Ayla sporting her very comfy jammies --

Yeah, the boys must not have done this whole pajama thing quite as much as Ayla has.  Because, they actually do look a bit excited!

So upon waking up, we saw that Santa had eaten every bit of cookie we had on the plate (he either must have been really hungry or I made extra awesome cookies, because he has never finished all of them before...) and you will also take note that there are green pieces on the plate as well.  Those were celery sticks we had for the reindeer.  We figure they need some snacks as well.  From the looks of it, the treats were greatly appreciated :)

When David and I were waking up the kids, (yes, the two adults had to wake up the children at around 7:45 .... doesn't quite seem right does it?), I captured a pic of Brax.  For the  most part, he has always been an easy kid to wake up and is always super happy in the morning.  LOVE IT!

The boys ran downstairs and started looking at all of the presents.  Benjamin ran over to Braxton and exclaimed, "look at what you got!  good job, buddy!" and proceeded to hold out his hand for a high-five.  It was really cute!

Um, this is supposed to be Braxton showing off his letter from Santa -- but it looks more like he is scared out of his mind.  Just capturing the "moments", ya know.

Um, yeah ... again.  Exciting times!  We all received a letter from Santa, and none of us really seem that excited.  Santa is boring in his letters.  He's more fun when he isn't personal!!! (mental note to s...anta!)

We then headed out the door to the SL shelter.  We didn't really feel it was appropriate to be taking pictures of the whole handing out the kits, so here is a picture of the kids' afterward.

So, all of the major gift opening and such is on video.  But I think overall it was a really awesome Christmas.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
