Tonight for FHE

Tonight for FHE, we made some "kits" for the homeless.  David and his business partner, Dave, thought it would be a great idea to get together some essentials for the homeless and give it to them for Christmas.  And, personally, I agree.

David and I went to Dollar Tree and bought about 155 items for $160.00.  Mind you, many of those items had more than just one in a package ... so, I'd dare say, we had about 250 - 300 items (perhaps more) for that price.  So, really, it came to about $.50 to $.75 per item.  Which really, is a good deal, I think.

They paid for it out of their business account, so really, it is from their business - but it was a great experience for the boys to get the idea of helping others in need.

We had our little assembly line going.  They would walk to each "station", if you will, and grab however many items.  It was really cute and adorable.  They had memorized how many of what went into each bag.  Braxton kept saying, "our neighbors will be so excited."  I'm guessing he still doesn't quite get exactly what it was for.  Maybe he'll get it a little more when we deliver them.

Anyway, here are a few pictures of the night:

After FHE, David and the kids made a fire so that we could cook s'mores.  They have so much fun doing this.

It's so cute seeing the boys try and help out and they feel oh so proud of themselves being such great helpers.

  1. That's a great idea, and it helps you understand the true meaning of Christmas. What would Christ do, right? Awesome.

And by the way, I love your hair. :)
