Then, at 7:06am (yes, it's really at 7:06 that I do this) I run out to the car and start it so it is warm for Braxand I. I come back in, Have Brax get dressed and by 7:20 we are out the door to go and pick up Ben at his Mom's work at 106th South.
However, yesterday, I was 3 minutes away and she called me. She felt so bad - she wasn't coming into work and meant to call me, but had fallen back asleep. I wasn't ticked - I was actually excited, because it meant another day for me and Brax to hang out and be pals.
I had been planning on going to COSTCO to pick up some much needed items that we need at our home (and some not needed ones, too) but wasn't looking forward to taking two small children with me. It's always harder to get things done with both of them.
Brax and I were able to go by ourselves and he was such a crack-up. He saw a Wii and ran over to it (but it was just the cardboard that you take up to the front). He was like,
Brax: "whaaaaa? why isn't this real?"
Mom: "because some people steal expensive things, so you take that up front to a worker and then they'll get it for you AFTER you've paid for it."
Brax: "oh. (long pause) Well, can we get one?"
Mom: "nope."
Brax: "and why is that?" (I laughed because that question sounds so much like me)
Mom: "because it is too expensive"
Brax: "sooooo, do you wanna get a job or what?"
Mom: (TAKEN BACK!) "um, no! how about you get a job and you can pay for it."
Brax: "alright. nevermind."
And that was the end of the conversation. He's so funny. I love his guts.

So after we were done shopping and had our GINORMOUS churros. We were walking out. I noticed that there was a fire engine. I think we've all been at stores (either coming or going) and see a fire engine or cop car with it's lights ... and you never really see much.
Well the fire engine was blocking the parking lot aisle that we were parked on. I noticed orange cones put up too, keeping any more traffic from coming through.
Brax and I walked around the front of the engine and then I saw a whole bunch of emergency personnel working on somebody on the ground. My first thought was that someone had been struck by a car.
I felt stupid, because I HATE when people have no reason being there, but they find a reason to be there and they just want to see what the heck is going on. But, I kept saying to myself, "your car is parked on this aisle, Maria. It really is ok to be walking by."
Brax seemed a little bit hesistant when he realized there had been an accident. I have this intuition radar of his sensitivities --- I knew immediately that he was remembering the horror when the people had to come help Grandma Gregson.
Just about then, I noticed a Costco worker coming towards me and said, "can I help you?" I was like, "well, my car is parked up here somewhere ..." He said, "which one...?" I hadn't even really looked and so I looked up and said ... "it's the Corolla." He smiled and said, "Well, of course it is! Why did I even ask?"
The reason he said that is because this older gentleman they were working on was right behind my car.
I looked down at Braxton and he looked completely shocked. I then saw the blood all over the road -- draining down the slope. I turned him around and said ... "looks like someone has an owie and people came to help him just like they came to help grandma, hu?" He was like, "yeah." Then the ambulance lights started to flash and he was like ... "Look, MOM! It's Ratchet" (another transformer!!!) I was like "YES! It is ratchet! How awesome is that!"
At this point, they were getting the man on the gurnie and about ready to take him off. Braxton was totally excited. His anxieties were gone and he was just excited to see more transformers in action.
I got him in the car... and told him to wait while I loaded the stuff.
I guess this guy had had a seizure, fell and slammed his head on the pavement. It was a pretty good gash too. Where is head was on the ground, there was a good ... 8-10 feet of blood draining from his head ... :(
It was so funny to hear Braxton tell the story later though.
We stopped where David was working for a minute and this was Braxton ...
"Guess what? We were at Costco and there was a dead guy on the ground, oh yeah, he wasn't dead he was alive but he looked dead. He'd been hurt and he had blood coming from his head, I know he had blood coming from his head because I saw it with my eyes. And guess what? Ratchet was there to help him. And guess what? The people there to help him lifted him up on this thing that transformed (the gurnie) and Guess what? Then ratchet's lights went on and they shut the doors and they were going to take him to the hospital so that he could get better just like Grandma Gregson. And guess what? I also saw a good Megatron, too. And guess what? Isn't that awesome?"
As you read that, though ^, you should really try and read it out loud as fast as you possibly can. It was hilarious to hear him tell the story.
So, that was our adventurous trip to Costco. Never a dull trip there, I tell ya!

So, on a lighter note. I have been craving this sandwich that I had at a small mom and pop place in provo last week. It was a turkey, bacon, avocado burger. MMMMMMMMM. Oh me, Oh mi! Turkey, Bacon and Avocado just happen to be my most favorite things in the world! It was a slice of heaven, seriously.
So, I attempted to make one myself. And I must say -- it was ALMOST as good. I think what made theirs better, was they had it on sourdough bread. (Another fav of mine!)
So, this is what I did.
First, toast some bread. When it's done, put mayo on the bread. (I guess you could use miracle whip if that's your thing. It's not mine.)
I got turkey lunch meat and warmed it up in a skillet. (It was a warm sandwich) I just placed about 4 slices on a warm skillet until they started to sizzle a bit, then turned it way down.
When they are warm, place them on the bread topped with fresh sliced tomato, then place some bacon on the tomato and avocado on the bacon. OH MAN! SUCH A DELICIOUS TREAT. I loved it.
I'm sure if warm turkey meat grosses you out, you could also do it cold as well. Seriously. I love this sandwich. It would probably be delicious to put a slice of cheese on there as well. All I had was cheddar and that didn't seem appealing to me ... so I just did without.
Really - you might want to give it a go! And, if for some odd reason you don't like it ..... you can call me up and I'll come take it off of your hands for you. ;)
Wow! That sounds like quite an adventure. The turkey bacon avacado sandwich is my favorite. Red Robin and Jason's Deli both have amazing ones in case you wanted to find one closer than Provo.
